  • The Brazilian government has focused a large part of its economic development programme in agriculture. In 2010, 68 million tonnes of soya beans were grown to be processed into bio-fuels. The country processed 176,000 tonnes of the beans every single day.
  • Brazil is the 4th largest consumer of fertilisers in the world. Such is the speed of it’s agricultural development that the government has mandated it must be self-sufficient in fertilisers during the next 5 years. Local production needs to double to reach this target.
